I’m coming back to my reasoning of three months ago. It is not getting and it will just not get better with Schaefer. Cameroon is the only team in Africa which does not included any local player in their team. I keep hearing of people insisting on the fact that our local teams are not that good. That’s not true. In the last five years, Cameroon club’s results in CAF competion has been noticeable.
Regularly our clubs have reached the quarter-finals and the semi-finals. In 2000, Canon played a continenental final and last year Tonnere played one. Here is another example(even though Football results are not transitive), Chad drew Cotonsport and lost to Sahel de Maroua but bit Namibia in the ANC qualifying games, bit Lybia 4-1 in the all African games qualifiers, lost 4-1 to Algeria in Algiers(they missed a penalty). Their results friendly games and compettions games combined are better than ours.
My point is that there is no excuse for Schaefer, he could have scheduled games for the Lions against Sahel of Maroua, Contonsport, PWD, Canon or even against Chad, Gabon… to train the players. How can he justified not call any player from the Cameroon ligue? Is the Nigeria ligue better than the Cameroon ligue? But Chukwu consistenly make up a team of local players for friendlies and the for qualifiers, he only brings in 8 to 9 professionals, only the best. The result is that Nigeria has not lost any game since the lost to sweden in the world cup. They played 10 games since.
Besides, why does he completely ignore the olympic team? Branco plays regularly with Eintrach, Frankfurt and his team will be back in the Bundesliga 1. Abanda plays with Sparta Prague, Meyong Ze plays every week with Boavista, Aloma, Wansi, Ngon, all of those players have shown that they can play. He needs to explain why he believes Bella is better than Aloma, Wansi, Mbida Messi, Atem, Etougou, Ngon A Djam or Mokake. How can he call a player from Bucarest but not call Branco or Abanda? What is going on? Those olympic players have a record with the olympic and the national team. He claims he his looking for players but a year and half ago Mba Djama was still strong but he never call him. He also never call Jean Calvin Batang (who then went to Ivory Coast and became the top scorer there) nor Aloma. Cameroonian know how to play soccer. Except Mboma, all of our best players started in our ligue. Oman played his first game while still in D 2 with Puma. Schaefer has no excuse!!
Bidoung does not care but the Lions do not belong to him. This is Cameroon property, not Bidoung’s. If was such a man of football, he should have created his own club… Why don’t he fire Schaefer? Why? I ask the same question to Iya. Cameroon does not belong to them!
Clearly Bidoung and Schaefer should go!
