tu devrais etres aupres de Sep Balter pour lui distiller les conseils savament reflechis. Et c'est des personnes comme toi dont a besoin Le football Camer ou le PSG. Car ca fait plus de 10 ans que le PSG a l'un des plus gros budgets mais ne reuisst pas a decoler. De JP Tokoto a Dorhasso, ils n'ont jamais su gerer les talents.

So let’s not rush this time around. Let’s draw on past disappointing experiences from bad judgments that were made in the past. As we can see, it is troubling that we in Cameroon still have to rely on the Chinese for example to build our roads? That is unacceptable. It means the transfer of knowledge to Cameroonians for building roads was not adequate and the deciders should go back to the drawing board concerning education, and application of what is taught and how to use it. We cannot accept to see Chinese build roads if we do not master the maintenance of the roads. Hence if they build the roads for us, this amounts to doing the same things over again as in the past.

There are many reasons why Cameroon would favor to make such a Deal with the US:
1) We have seen it done in the Middle East by the US. Whereas we have yet to see any other country that have done so. Instead these countries have done everything they can to sell us projects that are temporary in their use, requiring perpetual dependence to call on them for the next step, with no transfer of knowledge.
2) Confidence in the application of the rule of law in the US, for protection of the investments should anything go wrong and seeking remedy. In contrast, it is not at all certain that we can automatically have a fair remedy for having a judicial recourse in other countries in case something go wrong in the deal (where the nationalistic zeal may prevail) particularly with a superpower like China (Case in point the Sudan). We do not want to deal with countries where we have to be the one to change our foot to fit their shoes, instead of having them make shoes that fit our foot. The other superpowers can have the luxury to do that (in the case of China for example), not Cameroon.
3) The transfer of knowledge is also feasible with the US more than with other countries (More than 50 years, Cameroon sent her brightest children in France and other Europeans countries, yet they are unable to build good roads in Cameroon). Many other countries have received the technological transfer of knowledge benefit from US (Japan, European countries, and China). So we know it can also be done if we throw our hats with the US for effective transfer of know how.

My Commentary:
An Extreme caution needs to be exercised on the frantic urge to attract investments from any country at this juncture. Instead we need to emphasize, on deals with friendly country whereby, exploitation of natural resource (principally the prospect of crude oil commodity exploitation) is accompanied with those Cameroonians generated revenues as investments (Cameroonian investments) in US securities, so as to use the interest generated from these revenues, as funds and financial resources to carry out the majority of National ambitious projects which the head of State outlined in his two recent speeches.
The advantages for this approach is that we can do this without relying too much on investments that bring about national debts at a point where we are not yet mastering “good governance, and competences” in the management of the country’s wealth.
Another advantage is that by using the interest generated through the securities investments, it provides some independence financially, and for launching the infrastructure development of the country, this place the leaders in the driver’s sit on the effective transfer of knowledge as a sticker for giving our business to the companies desirous to be granted the lucrative contracts for carrying out these projects in building of Cameroon.
