Lauren has launched a scathing attack on Ruud van Nistelrooy for his part in the on-field bust-up between Arsenal and Manchester United last month.
The aggression between the two teams saw six Gunners players and two United men charged by The FA, of which the Cameroon international was one.

While Arsenal were widely blamed for the shambolic scenes at Old Trafford, Lauren believes that van Nistelrooy should shoulder his portion of the blame, and insisted the anger shown by the North Londoners was a build-up from previous encounters.

However, the full back has now distanced himself from the comments and, according to Arsenal, denied speaking to any journalists during his time in Spain.

"The problem did not come just from this game, but from before," the defender told Spanish daily AS.

"As well as provoking the sending-off (of Patrick Vieira), it was not a penalty and then van Nistelrooy laughed at us on the pitch.

"I can't justify what I did, but more went on than just the images shown on Spanish television."

The full back is currently in Spain undergoing tests on his left knee after being troubled by cartilage damage.

The former Mallorca player sustained the injury some years back, and although he has been able to play on with the problem he has not discounted the possibility of going under the surgeon's knife in the future.

He added: "I continue to have a problem with the cartilage which was found three years ago after a check, now I am waiting for more results.

"If the pains continue I would not rule out undergoing surgery."

The 26-year-old also confirmed that he wants to extend his stay with The Gunners, expressing his happiness with all aspects of life at Highbury.

"My contract ends in two seasons and I want to renew it," he continued.

"Things are going very well with both the manager and the club, and the fans are sensational. They idolise the players."
Merci de patienter...
