ZURICH, December 11, 2013 - FIFA has set out the precise system for media accreditation for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
To clarify: journalists need to be registered with the FIFA Media Channel BUT will need a specific 'code' provided by the media office of their national football association.
This code comprises a "unique user ID and electronic key" which is NOT the journalist's standard Media Channel access logon.
The world federation has warned that "demand will far exceed supply."
Each national association has been allocated a certain number of media accreditations, based on past history and also whether the national team have qualified for the finals.
FIFA has stated that the federations "must come to an agreement with the national sports journalists’ association or other professional organisation in their country regarding an equitable allocation of the quota."
How this is managed will vary, inevitably, from country to country. In some countries the relationsip between federation and sports journalists' body is better and closer than in others.
The FA's media officer is responsible for working out to which journalists the access keys should be offered.
Brazilian journalists will be accredited directly thro
