Simon Cox believes that new arrival Somen Tchoyi could be a revelation for West Bromwich Albion as the season progresses.

The former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder arrived at the Hawthorns during the summer and signed a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old made his first appearance as a substitute during the 1-0 loss to Liverpool, but his full debut - in a 2-1 victory over Manchester City - in the League Cup saw him being awarded the Man of the Match accolade.

And Cox believes that his team-mate's unpredictable nature could be a blessing in disguise

He told the club's official website: "I can't really slate him because he did really well.

"In training he is a little bit frustrating sometimes but on Wednesday night he showed a good end product and good pace going down the line.

"Sometimes he looks a little bit gangly and awkward but sometimes that unpredictability can beat players.

"The fans got a good showing from him.

"If you look at [Tottenham Hotspur striker] Peter Crouch, he is not the most fluent footballer but he is difficult to play against, and I am guessing Tchoyi will be very similar.

"He will get it at his feet and run at someone, it might pop off his shin and he might get on the end of it.

"He might not even know what he is doing and that means defenders don't know what he is doing.

"The unpredictability of him could be a good thing for us."
