Morocco Coach Pre-Selects 36 Players For Cameroon Clash

Hassan Moumen has named 36 players for Morocco’s upcoming qualifier versus the Indomitable Lions, half of them being domestic players.

Mountakhab.net is reporting that Moroccan national team coach Hassan Moumen has revealed a list of 36 players from which he will pick his squad that will face Cameroon in their final qualifier that will determine whether or not they will qualify for the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola.

Notable absentees in the squad are Marouane Chamakh and Amine Erbate who are both suspended due to yellow card accumulation as well as Jamal Allioui who has been overlooked due to derogatory comments he made about the coach and his technical staff after the 3-1 away loss to Gabon in Libreville earlier this month.

However, what is most striking about the pre-selected squad is the fact that there is an equal split between those players who are based in Europe and those who are plying their trade in the Moroccan domestic league.
Players such as Mehdi Zoubairi, Omar Najdi, and Azeddine Hissa may receive their first call-ups in a week’s time.
