Former Cameroon defender Raymond Kalla has suggested he may yet play again for the Indomitable Lions, despite announcing his international retirement after the World Cup.
In an interview in the German football magazine Kicker, Kalla accused the Cameroon FA, Fecafoot, of being chaotically run and disorganised.
But he added that if they cleaned up their act he would be available again.
« I will not play under present conditions, » said the 27-year-old centre back, who has had an impressive season in the Bundesliga with new club VfL Bochum.
« It has nothing to do with the coach or the team.
« If it changes, then who knows. »
Kalla did not elaborate on the alleged chaos but it is suspected it has to do with Cameroon’s perennial squabbles over payments for players on international duty.
Arsenal fullback Lauren last month also announced his intention to make himself unavailable for future international matches.
Coach Winfried Schafer said he had not tried to change Kalla’s mind but believed he could ultimately be persuaded back.
« We have not had any games since the World Cup and just two training camps, » Schafer said.
« We will see what happens this year. » he told Kicker.
Kalla, who started his career at Canon Yaounde and went on to play in Greece and Spain, won 61 caps for Cameroon and played for his country in the last three World Cup finals.
He also helped the Indomitable Lions to two African Nations Cup titles.
