Bloemfontein Celtic and Cameroon goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb says that he will never go back to playing for his country because the people involved are only there to make money.
It seems nothing is going right with the Cameroon national team after the recent saga involving Samuel Eto’o and Eyong Enoh has left a sour taste around the once powerhouse of African football.
Now Tignyemb has spoken out about the problems he believes are affecting the Indomitable Lions.
“My first call up to Cameroon was disappointing! I realised that everyone is focused more on what happens off the field than what happens on the field,” Celtic’s star keeper says.
“My country is special but it has too many problems with the management, so I don’t think about the national team.
“I focus purely on Bloemfontein Celtic and I play for them with my full heart and spirit.”
Tignyemb represented Cameroon’s Under 23 side at the 2008 Olympic Games and was part of the senior national team in the 2004 African Nations Cup squad. He made his senior team debut in 2005, but has not played again since.
“I won’t play again. I have made my decision and I will not go back there. The organisation is not right! The people there are not fair.
“They are purely focused on how to make money and not on the football. They do not treat the players fairly and they don’t give players fair call-ups,” Tignyemb says.
“And I am not the only one who has realised this. There are other players now who are moving on to play for other countries like Malawi and Congo.
“The only time I will return to Cameroon is to go see and feed my family. I have no interest in the national squad, Celtic is my only focus.”
