Kevin Keegan has revealed that he and the club are planning to help the family of Marc Vivien Foe. In the next couple of weeks City are set to announce plans on how they propose to help marc Vivien Foe’s family.
The death of the midfielder has touched the players and manager who discussed the tragedy on their return to pre-season training earlier this week.
And the boss has pledged that they will not let down the memory of a great man or his family.
« Marc was doing so much back home in Cameroon for under privileged kids and he spent most of his summer training young kids. »
« It is very, very sad, he was just twenty eight years of age. We are still looking to do something to help his family and we will probably announce something in the next few weeks. »
« We spoke about Marc a little bit when we came back to training last week and I have told the players to get together and think what they would like to do in his honour. »
« We have a fair idea as a club what we want to do but I want the players to do something because they were close to him. »
« He has a wife and three very young children, so it is important that we don’t let them down. We will do something big-style. »
And fans have the chance to remember the midfielder who was the last City player to score at Maine Road at a special memorial service in the Manchester Cathedral on Wednesday 16th July.
The boss admitted that like many fans he is still struggling to come to terms with the midfielder’s death.
« I don’t think you ever come to terms with something like this. It was a real sad day for everyone who knew Marc Vivien Foe. »
« I think you have seen from the reaction of everyone that he was a very special person. »
« He was a great footballer, but shove that to one side as great footballers come and go. Marc was a great person and it is difficult when you lose a great person. »
