The Frenchman agreed a return after the departure of the oil-rich nation's sports minister, the BBC and French sports paper L'Equipe reported on Friday.
Michel gave up the job last week after a tussle over team selection and in frustration with conditions in the former Spanish colony, ranked 155th in the world.
Michel will be in the capital Malabo to attend Saturday's draw for the finals.
The country's official government website confirmed the appointment of a new sports minister to replace Rustan Obiang, son of the president, who had been at loggerheads with Michel.
Michel was hired last December on a 13-month contract to build a team to compete at the Nations Cup, which Equatorial Guinea will co-host with Gabon from January 21 to February 12.

si meme la guinee bissau nous depasse a gagner mieux on se convertit tous en fans de canoe-kayak,on trouvera @ndogkoti deja en avance sur les notions de base de ce sport.
J'ai pas vu le match de marseille mais nkoulou a encore ete le meilleur marseillais selon les medias,je ne sais pas dans quel mapane est passee @la lionne, moi egalement j'avais un peu peur qu'il ne puisse s'imposer et la il est au firmament.

j'ai decide de voir 1 match de l'inter 1e nuit ,il faut vraiment dire combien de fois cette equipe est perdue et combien de fois 2 personnes voire 1e personne a pu faire l'ame de l'equipe.

Toi, le chaud gars du Nde, si tu avais deja quitte Manengole pour te rendre a Bangangte, tu aurais deja apprecie Patchi et son celebre Rond-Point. Donc, ne nous distrais pas. Nous preparons une echeance importante; passe ton chemin.
