I’ll Retire After 2010 World Cup - Rigobert Song
By I.M
Indomitable Lions skipper, Rigobert Song, has declared that he is satisfied with his captainship role of the Lions den at the 26th MTN African Cup of Nation.
He states further that he will continue with the Lions until the 2010 World Cup in South Africa before thinking about retiring.Talking to the press in Tamale, Ghana, Song said his role is to lead all the players in the squad. "When I was young, I copied from my seniors like Roger Milla, Stephen Tataw and others who told me how to succeed in the game.
"We have a team that can play scintillating football talk less of the fact that it has a good blend of old players, like myself and Geremi Njitab, and young talents, like my cousin Alexandre Song, Andre Bikey and the rest."
On his relationship with Alexendre Song, he said, "Our fathers are brothers. Alexendre is not only my cousin he is my friend, even though we don't stay in the same room together in Ghana."
I am so proud of Alexendre. Though he is not a regular at Arsenal his performance this far at the Cup of Nations has been wonderful. In short, his achievements have been more beneficial to me than to himself.
"This is my 7th edition of the African Cup of Nations, I had never thought that I would equalise or break records like these, but it has happened. It is God's gift to have stayed healthy with little injuries all this while."
