Hannover 96 have confirmed their interest in Lens' Cameroon international defender Rigobert Song.
Song recently said he was focused on staying with Lens, having settled into life in France, but he has emerged as a target for Hannover.
"Song is exactly the type of player we are looking for," Hannover director of sport Ricardo Moar told Neue Presse. "He's quick, has experience and is ready to make his voice heard, but I am afraid it will be tough to sign him."
The 96ers have conceded 37 goals in 17 games and are desperate to add some stability to their back-line.
Moar clearly believes the 27-year-old Song is the ideal candidate, but it remains to be seen if they can persuade the former West Ham man to leave Lens.
Song started his career in Europe with Metz and also featured for Italian side Salernitana, English duo Liverpool and West Ham, before he returned to France after spending six months in Die Bundesliga with Cologne.
