SOCCER ace Eric Djemba-Djemba was held by border officials yesterday over a suspected illegal immigrant in his car.
The Aston Villa midfielder had been trying to board a Channel Tunnel train with two passengers at Calais.
But UK officials operating in France ordered former Man Utd star Djemba-Djemba, 26, his girlfriend and the suspect out of his Mercedes 4x4.
His burly, 6ft male passenger did not match his passport photo. All three were seized by British immigration officers in the early hours.
Djemba-Djemba was held for seven hours before being released with his girlfriend and allowed into the UK.
But the man they had tried to bring in was refused entry.
A source said: “He was found not to have the proper papers.â€
