Barcelona dressing room split into four cliques
tribalfooball.com - May 20, 2007

While there are no damaging rifts, there does clearly exist no less than FOUR cliques inside the Barcelona dressing room, it has been revealed.

DiarioSport says there are firstly the Catalans, those players who also mix freely with their teammates: Carles Puyol, Xavi, Alberto Jorqera, Victor Valdes, Andres Iniesta and Oleguer make up this group, dubbed the 'glue' which keeps the squad together.

Then there are the 'Brazilians', led by Ronaldinho. Also in this mix are Eidur Gudjohnsen and Leo Messi.

Samuel Eto'o heads another clique, which counts also on Ludovic Giuly and Lilian Thuram as its mainstays.

Finally there are the 'outcasts', those players who know they are on the outer of Frank Rijkaard's first team plans and do not participate in senior team activities.

The greatest example of the difference between the groups came during Eto'o's famous blow-up earlier this year against Ronaldinho. It needed the likes of Xavi and Puyol from the 'Catalans' to smooth things between the two warring factions.

It's understood that on Thursday, Puyol lunched with Eto'o and Deco, from the 'Brazilians', to make sure all three groups were on the same page for the final four games of the season.
Merci de patienter...
