The African Union and the Confederation of African Football launch this morning the Year of African football
The launching of International Year of African football was do done this morning by the African Union , during its 8th ordinary session summit of the General Assembly , to honour the Confederation of African Football who is celebrating its 50 years anniversary in 2007. The Continental football governing body was born 8th February 1957 in Khartoum.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter and CAF President Issa Hayatou spoke, before in 53 Head of states and Governments , on CAF 50th anniversary , International Year of African football and FIFA world Cup 2010 in South Africa.
The President of world governing football body reaffirmed FIFA’s confidence for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and he said “for FIFA, plan A is South Africa; plan B is South Africa and plan C is South Africaâ€
The Confederation of African Football President Issa Hayatou expressed his satisfaction and said that the continental football body is delighted with African Football Union. declaration to make 2007 “International year of African footballâ€
Issa Hayatou congratulated African leaders for the contribution to the development of sports in their countries, making stadiums available and also providing financial subsidie to clubs and National associations.
