Bundesliga runners-up Werder Bremen have signed Cameroon international left-back Pierre Womé from Italian giants FC Internazionale Milano.
The 27-year-old has joined the north German side on a free transfer and has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2008. "He is exactly the type of player we have been looking for, and he brings a lot of experience into our team", said Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs, whose club have qualified for the group stage of the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League.
Cameroon successes
Capped 67 times for his country, Womé was a member of the Cameroon sides that triumphed at the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2000 Olympics. The left-back can draw on plenty of club experience, having played for Italian sides Vicenza Calcio, AS Lucchese, AS Roma and Bologna FC as well as England's Fulham FC and Spanish side RCD Espanyol.
