Joakim is the son of legendary Franco-Cameroonian tennis hall of famer Yannick Noah. Why should he be mentioned as Cameroonian when he was born in NY?. When his father won the tennis grand slam in 1983, the frogs never referred to Noah as Franco- Camerounais. In many interviews, Joakim has talked about his Cameroonian roots. He has mentioned about the "Mugang" that his grandfather, Zacharie in Cameroon gives him when he visits Cameroon and how he strongly believes in this force. He has credited the jazz for his elevated performance thus far.
