It is also an opportunity to detect the causes of failure and resolutions to avoid another fall. We know that the Romans were not condemned for making errors.
Reading the postings on this forum after the ACN, I am appalled by the largesse of many fans of the lions. Appalled and scared because they are doing what most Africans have done for a while, make up excuses. Some say it is alright for a player to indulge in amorous adventures in the face of a crucial game. It is not only a crucial game, but a game full of psychological and historical ramifications. No it is not. You may also say they played well, but how do you know they could have plaed better? Although I cannot challenge the veracity of the facts, I say, if it is true that an irresponsible behavior, when it is detected, should be treated with a responsible sanction.
The institution of the indomitable lions should have rules and regulations that would be applied to all players irrespective of their notoriety. Personally, I will always admire steadfastness, humility and courage of players like Etame Mayer. I am sure nobody understands the amount of pain and disappointment this guy should be feeling not being able to participate in the Lions' adventures. He may not play, but my admiration for him is profound.
Rules and regulations of the Lions should be the first thing that should be handed out to any palyer called in the National team. Consequences and penalties should accompany any deviations to the norms and character of the national team. Accountability is not a preserve for politicians alone.
Lastly, Le Cameroun ce n'est pas le Cameroun. C'est la l'un des propos les plus defaitiste que j'aie entendu de toute mon existence. Aux fans de SEF faites comprendre a votre idole que l'histoire ne retiendra pas ce qu'il a dit, mais combien de buts il a marque. Il est temps pour lui de recommencer a faire parler son pied. Qu'il laisse la rhetorique aux autres, du moins pour le moment...
