Eto'o top scorer of the Rijkaard era
With his goal against Espanyol, Samuel Eto'o has become Barcas top scorer since Rijkaard became manager. The Cameroonian has netted 52 times, once more than Ronaldinho, in just one and a half seasons with the Club.
There's no stopping Eto'o. He's scored 18 goals in as many league matches, giving him an average that no goal scorer across Europe can match and making him the top scorer of the Rijkaard era. Despite joining the Club a year after the Dutch manager, Eto'o has scored 52 goals in just a season and a half, overtaking the previous top scorer Ronaldinho.
Lethal in the league
Almost 83% of Samuel's goals, 43 out of 52, have come in the league. He's played 55 league matches with Barca, which makes it an average of almost 0.8 goals per game. The rest have come in the Champions League (7) and the Spanish Super Cup (2).
Leaving his rivals behind
Samuel Eto'o had a great first season with Barca but the fact is that his second season is nothing short of sensational. With 23 goals in 24 matches he's the most in-form striker in world football and is the leading candidate for the Golden Boot award.
At present, Eto'o is ahead of all his rivals in the major European leagues - Italy, England, Germany and France. Behind him in the ranking come Luca Toni (Fiorentina) and Miroslav Klose (Werder Bremen) with 16 apiece while David Trezeguet (Juventus) and Ruud Van Nistelrooy (Manchester United) have 15.
A goal guarantee
His fantastic run of form has made Eto'o one of the key elements in Barca's record-breaking run of wins and he has scored 40% of the team's league goals.
