Etoo is always motivated when playing against his former club Real Madrid and one may understand from the fact that they had little faith in not keeping him. After the Beckham hype sale from ManU to Real he prophesied that "Beckham may be more handsome than he is, but he is a better player than Beckham". On this fateful night you had Roberto Carlos,Zidane,Figo, Raul.Ronaldo, Beckham playing central middlefield and Cambiasso for usual workhorse Makelele.
But for all the galacticos on show, Real were upstaged by Mallorca's Cameroon front-man Samuel Eto'o.
The lightning-quick striker is one of a number of players to be linked with Chelsea this summer and though that move is now unlikely to come off, it is easy to see why he is one of the most coveted players in Europe.
With excellent close control, good speed and balance, Eto'o is every defender's nightmare.
It was the African who led most of the home charges on goal, unsettling a Real defence which eventually caved in during first-half stoppage time when Arnold Bruggink levelled.
It took Eto'o just three minutes after the interval to make a truly telling mark though, bursting forward with purpose, then holding his position to take a return pass from Alejandro Campano before rifling the winner past the overworked Iker Casillas.
