In the NBA NFL and all other professional sports these statistics are a true test of form and probability that a player will do well or plays better with another player. Because we have won in the past without indepht analysis we cannot ignore mordern tools that will help us. Wether in information tecnology , finance , commerce or sports statistical analysis will help us . One reason we are backword in Africa is because we do not keep historical data that we help us to forecast and plan for the furture. Let us give the mathematician a chance to try out something. This may be a great breakthrough in African football.
The greatest findings in the feild of science and technology have always been treated as foolishness in the begining. Isaac Newton was thought insane when he asked the question Why do apples not fall upwards. Whe Galelio said that the tower was not upright he almost got killed . MAny people got lynched when they said the earth was round or that the earth revolved around the sun.
I decide to write this column became I am a Cameroonian and a scientist . We are so narrow minded and so afraid of innovation wether it is political or otherwise. Let us remain open minded and give people like Professor Bityeki a chnace to prove his point. LEt us not shun the voices of the peope . LEt us listen to even fools . They may have a story to tell us on how they became fools . At least I will learn not to be a fool.
