M'Bami: Why I snubbed the Wolves
Cameroon midfielder Modeste M'Bami has revealed the reasons behind his decision to snub Premiership newcomers Wolves and sign for Paris St Germain.
The Black Country club were closing in on the 20-year-old and had agreed a fee of around £2million with his French club Sedan.
However, PSG president Francis Graille stepped in and M'Bami has signed a five-year contract with the Paris club.
'I am very happy to be with PSG,' he said. 'This is a great moment for me.
'I was meant to go to England and sign with Wolverhampton on Monday, but president Graille phoned me overnight to make his offer.
'I had a little bit of time to think. I weighed up the pros and cons and I chose to come here. I needed to play in a big club for my career. As far as I am concerned I think that with the team's quality we can win the title.
'But whatever happens we will have to grab a place in Europe.'
Mbami, who has won 11 caps for Cameroon and played a major role in their Confederations Cup campaign, has signed a five-year contract with PSG.
