The computers to students is a good initiative in the sense of what it would have done to the economy if the computers were assembled in Cameroon. But we are just going to spend the money with a foreign company and it does nothing to our economy.
Just like the building of road and stadia and other infrastructures it will be outsourced to a foreign company and local people will not benefit from it. I understand there is a problem with finishing of projects and local business people not being able to complete projects. Why can we not follow the Chinese example of state sponsored capitalism. where the government creates the companies and hires civil engineers to build these roads.
secondly why not start a serious transfer of technology whereby all foreign corporations have to include a local expert at every phase of projects like the Chinese and Koreans did.
Why not empower a local businessman to start assembling computers in Cameroon like Dell and the other ones and sell to students locally. Cameroon and their thinking. it is amazing.
