Stars Bafana Lineup2 The Black Stars will play the Elephants of Ivory Coast in an international friendly on August 17, a day set aside by football’s world governing body, FIFA, for friendly matches.
This was revealed by a local radio station JoyFM.
The management board of the Ghanaian FA has received confirmation of the match date from the Ivorian federation and both nations have agreed to have the game played in France.
The French football federation has yet to sanction a date for the match, which is scheduled to be played on the same day as France’s match against Senegal.
It is however likely the French football federation would have the game played a day before or after the Le Bleu-Teranga Lions game so it can enjoy good media coverage.
Ghana’s tie against Ivory Coast would the first between the West African nations since 1996, when the Black Stars beat the Elephants in the African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
