Lauren denies return
by Alex Dunn - created on 17 Jun 2005
Cameroon Arsenal defender Lauren has refuted talk that
has suggested he is ready to make a return to
international football.
The 28-year-old full-back retired from the
international scene after the 2002 World Cup - drawing
the curtain on a 22 cap career.
Lauren played in Cameroon sides that were victorious
in the Olympics and African Nations Cup and had been
tipped to make a return on Sunday against Libya.
However, whilst acknowledging he has not ruled out a
possible comeback in the future, Lauren is adamant
that he will not be available at the weekend.
''This news came out a few weeks ago and it is not
true,'' Lauren told the club's official website.
''I am not going to come back now. Maybe it could
happen in the future but not at the moment.
''It has been a long season and I am not ready to go
to the national team yet.
''I want to wait a little bit more. I am still young
so I have time but in the future definitely.''
