Indeed, during my last selection (against Ukraine, June 2nd 2013), I wasn’t so fit but because the new coach Volker Finke wanted to see me on the pitch, I made an effort. I played, the coach appreciated, told me that I was a good player, and that he really wanted me to come for the next games. As I said to you, I wasn’t really fit, so we said to each other that I would only play against Ukraine so i could get some rest, in order to start the new season, fit.
After the draw against Ukraine (0-0), I was asked to come and play the World Cup qualifying games against Tunisia, but I had to refuse…I had made a deal with my new team, and that time they did not agree to let me go. After this, I already knew that it would be difficult to be called again by the National Team.
