Absolutely! The point is if you are 100% fit, then you can pull it off. Ofcourse just pressing and not knowing what to do with the ball upon getting it is like a chess player who only anticipates 1 move. Very bad!
Press them, that breaks the opponent's game plan & since all players are human beings, the opponent gets frustrated if you keep pushing them in their own zone. So from a psychological point of view, you are already ahead of them. Things like that change games.
Again you are right, it is physically impossible to press for 90 straight minutes, not especially if you are playing a game every 3 days.. but do it enough to force your opponent to make mistakes. Chedjou's mistake from Wednesday can be slightly attributed to a high pressing game by Portugal... the psychological fall out from that point on earned us a humiliation.
