Please, try another argument. Just don’t tell Cameroonians, on one of the most read Cameroonian Websites how miserable their life can be. It is wrong for two main reasons. First, it is a blatant attempt to unjustifiably insult what we as Cameroonians have been able to accomplish despite being under this terrible and lethargic political regime for three decades. Second, it is inaccurate as it refuses to acknowledge that Cameroon has produced legendary football players (Mbappe Leppe, Milla, Nkono, Bell…) and continue to produce them (Eto’o). It also obmits the fact that all countries do the same by recruiting the best talents available no matter where they stay as long as they can be link to the country of origin. France almost recruits Higuain, Portugal recruits Brazilian players such as Pepe or Deco. There are more examples out there. The world is getting increasingly connected, so are we as humans; thus, proving that a Cameroonian like Dongou in Barcelona is no less of a Cameroonian than Feudjou in Garoua.
I am not a fan of courting these young players, because I believe in the romanticism of falling in love with the Cameroonian national team before committing to play for it instead of just calculating the profits of taking part in a world cup. But, it doesn’t give anyone the right to stamp our common sense and knowledge. The history of Cameroonian football is rich, maybe some of us desperately need to take lessons on it.
