Cette information va probablement susciter la colère de quelques supporteurs catalans qui ont vu leur club perdre l’un des meilleurs attaquants de ces dix dernières années pour une simple question d’ego. Johan Cruyff believes that Pep Guardiola was right to push through a swap deal involving Samuel Eto'o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in order to freshen up the squad and avoid problems.
The Barcelona legend felt that if Eto'o was not willing to talk about a contract extension then the club were right to cash in on his services this summer.
While the Cameroonian ace's deal at Camp Nou was due to run out in 2010, Cruyff praised the service that he gave to the Blaugrana during a stunning six-year stay.
"People talk about him now in a critical tone and that is not right. Over the past few years I think Samuel was excellent," he wrote in his weekly column for El Periodico.
