The Football Association has allowed Tottenham's Thimothee Atouba more time to answer a violent conduct charge.
Atouba had originally been given until 1800 GMT on Tuesday to respond.
But the 23-year-old is on international duty with Cameroon and has now been handed a deadline of 1700 BST on 31 March following a request from Spurs.
Manchester City's Joey Barton required eight stitches to an eye wound after Atouba appeared to elbow him in City's 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane.
Barton lay on the floor as Spurs striker Robbie Keane scored the winner.
Atouba could face a three-match ban if found guilty by the FA's Disciplinary Commission at a hearing on 1 April.
