"Born in Garoua in 1950 to a Nigerian Father, Iya Mohamed took over control of FECAFOOT in 1998 as head of the provisional bureau. On April 11, 2000, he was elected for his first four years mandate at the helm of FECAFOOT during the body’s extraordinary general assembly in Yaoundé. Since then, Iya Mohamed has through his management been winning the hearts of many football fans and leaders in Africa until he was compensated last December 2010 by the Confederation of African Football, CAF. He also doubles as president of Coton Sport of Garoua. Iya Mohammed who is now serving his third four year mandate at the head of FECAFOOT was first re-elected to his post on 15 February 2005 and later for the second time on 24 May 2009.
Before holding this elective post at the Cameroon Football Federation, Iya Mohammed has served the nation in several other capacities. After obtaining his Master in Economic Sciences in Nigeria, he was from 1975-1979, Agency head of BICIC in Kumba, 1979-1981, Deputy General Mnager of Selcam, 1981-1982, Regional Delegate of SODECOTON in the Littoral and currently he is also General Manager of SODECOTON."
