Portuguese Artur Jorge and his technical team of Raul Aguas and Jules Frederic Nyongha have officially started work for the Indomitable Lions.

They were commissioned on Monday January 17 by sport and physical education minister, Philippe Mbarga Mboa, accompanied by FECAFOOT president Mohammed Iya, after Jorge signed a contract that will last until July 2006.

After handing over to Jorge a copy of the contract that was also signed by Mohammed Iya, the minister emphasised that Jorge was the main boss of the team.

He promised Jorge that there will be no interference in the execution of his duties.
“You are the only technical boss of the Indomitable Lions and I will personally ensure that your hands are not tied in doing your job”, the minister promised.
After stating that the Indomitable Lions could no longer perform because the players had lost all conviction in playing for Cameroon, the minister said Jorge’s recruitment was the start of a new era.

Mbarga Mboa appealed to players who had turned their backs on the Indomitable Lions to return and commended Jorge for being an accomplished coach.

“Your knowledge of international football is a major advantage which will enable you accomplished the very important mission of qualifying Cameroon for the 2006 World Cup finals”, Mbaga Mboa said.

Although Jorge’s main task is to qualify Cameroon for the World Cup finals, Mbarga Mboa requested that he also prospect and detect new talents in and out of Cameroon in order to rebuild the Indomitable Lions.

After appealing to players, like Lauren Etame and Modest Mbami, who resigned from the national team to return because ‘it is the start of a new era’, the minister stated that the main role of the two new non-technical staff, Patrick Mboma and Yannick Noah is to convince these players to return.

Mboma was appointed ‘mediator’ and Noah ‘adviser’, alongside the new technical staff. But were both absent during the commissioning ceremony of the coaches.
