Quand tu ne sais pas il faut te taire. Freddy Adu, le petit ghanéen flambe aux States. Je l'ai presque élevé chez moi, ce gamin. Lis cette petite information.
Fabulous Freddy Adu has gone from soccer prodigy to soccer superstar in his first year playing for DC United of Major League Soccer. In his rookie year of pro soccer, the teenager scored five goals and became the youngest US athlete to ever play in an All-Star Game when he was named to the Eastern Conference squad at the 2004 MLS All-Star Game. Kidzworld checks out the teenage soccer star who'll be playing for DC United in the 2004 MLS Cup on November 14th.
Freddy Adu Stays in America
Freddy turned down large offers from the European soccer giant, Inter Milan, to play for DC United. His ball handling abilities and overall soccer sense have made him the most sought after player his age in the world. Inter Milan offered Freddy's family $750,000 to sign him. But Freddy's family and his coaches said no. Freddy wanted to stay in America to be closer to his family and avoid the extra pressure that would come from playing in Europe. Freddy's young rise to stardom has made him a bit of a celebrity. He's made several media appearances, including a stop on the Late Show With David Letterman.
Freddy's a Winner:
After helping the United States to advance to the Under-17 World Championship, the fabulous Freddy Adu was labelled the next American soccer superstar. Freddy scored two goals and set up another score during three games at a qualifying tournament in Guatemala from March 5-9, 2003. In doing so, he became the youngest person to play for a US national soccer team. Freddy Adu will next see international action when he plays for the American Under-20 team at the FIFA World Youth Championship starting November 27, 2003.
Freddy Goes Swoosh
Freddy's parents and coaches obviously don't consider the soccer superstar too young to do commercials. Freddy signed an endorsement deal with Nike which is reportedly worth over a million bucks! Freddy Adu's Nike deal is the biggest-ever endorsement from Nike for a soccer player. The company has not yet announced what kind of ads Freddy will be doing but have said, "He is young, and we are sensitive to that." Obviously not too young to become a millionaire.
