Tottenham defender Bassong excited about 2010 prospects
Bassong admits he’s had an incredible last 12 months.
It started with fighting a relegation battle at Newcastle, going through four managers – and finishing with chasing a place in the Champions League, a possible FA Cup Final and a World Cup with Cameroon.
Bassong told the Daily Star Sunday: “I missed out on the African Nations Cup because our manager thought it was best I got games with Spurs.
“Now I am back in the squad and so looking forward to it. We play our opening match in the World Cup against Japan and then Holland. We can do well.
“This could go on and be the best year of my sporting life. I hope so. There is so much that is available to me if I stay focused.
“I can feel something in the team, a really good spirit and, although we have the hardest run-in of the top four, we are confident.â€
