Egypt look set to appoint German Winfried Schafer as the new national team coach.
The Egyptian FA says it has proposed an offer to the former Cameroon coach, which he has accepted verbally.
Schafer will receive $35,000 monthly if he signs the deal and becomes the successor to Mohsen Saleh who resigned after the Nations Cup.
Egypt failed to cross the group stages at the tournament in Tunisia which was won by the host on 14 February.
Schafer will possibly be in charge for the qualifiers of the 2006 combined Nations Cup and World Cup games.
It is also a possibility that his contract could run until the 2006 Nations Cup itself which Egypt will host.
