Djemba-Djemba denies O'Leary jibe

Aston Villa star Eric Djemba-Djemba has denied criticising his manager David O'Leary for the club's poor position in the Premiership.
The Cameroon midfielder was called in for a meeting with O'Leary as a result of his recent remarks.

"I didn't say the manager needed to change anything. I wouldn't say that sort of thing. I wouldn't question his tactics," the 24-year-old said.

"He was shocked. He knows if I've anything to say, I go to him."

Djemba-Djemba added: "The manager called me in on Thursday morning and when he showed me the papers and articles I was shocked."

The former Manchester United player was reported to have said that O'Leary was employing the wrong tactics.

"It is the manager's fault because he needs to change the team," he said earlier.

"If he doesn't do something to the team soon, then maybe we will go down.

"What is going wrong? It is the tactics. I think he needs to change the tactics. Every time he just plays forwards.

"We need to try and play and enjoy keeping the ball. If we can do that, we can score more goals."

But now the Villa Park player is insisting that the reports are not in line with his views of the club.

"This makes me look like a trouble maker and I don't want that reputation.," he said.

"I want to do my talking on the pitch. I have a four-year contract. I will bide my time and try to get into the team.

"I am definitely enjoying my time at Villa. Everyone is happy with me and I feel the same about them."

O'Leary accepted Djemba-Djemba's explanation after their meeting on Thursday.

"I was surprised with Eric because what I saw him being quoted about was totally out of character.

"He likes the club, the fans and myself so he wouldn't come out with those remarks.

"I had to speak to him about it but he's not the sort of lad to come out with that rubbish."
Merci de patienter...
