@ Yvan,
When i say sponsor the league i was not referring to him using his personal income and I have personally informed Eto through a third party since i have never met the guy to stop spending his children's money on Cameroon football. Of course Embiid should use his money as he wants or desires. He is the first African to gross the kind of money he is making. However, he should stay strong and talk about Africa and Cameroon day in day out and stop shying away from his origins. He should be proud of being a Cameroonian. Those leading fecabasket are not as knowledgeable in the game as himself. He should help develop the game in Cameroon by using his foundation to set up summer camps build basketball courts in major cities.
Embiid can through his foundation sponsor clinics in Cameroon to detect talent in Cameroon just as he was unearth by Mba Amoute is my point. You know Hakeem played for the US Olympic team but it was very inconsequential because he was just another player in the team. Had he played for Nigeria the effect would have been far reaching for the game of basketball in the world because it would have created lots of basketball followers in Nigeria and lots of Nigerian kids would have fallen in love with the game. the last NBA draft had about 9 kids of Nigerian descent amongst the first 20 draft picks. I am not sure you understand what that means for Africa and Nigeria. It gives stock to the African talent in the US. Africans were laughed at in the US and teams shied away from Africans until recently with the emergence of Embiid, Siakam, Giannis and the kid in Miam, Adebayo. My point is Embiid has to think big and understand that the game is bigger than him and playing for Cameroon will give him more money than playing for France in the long run. Embiid just like Mutombo can through his foundation build a hospital in Cameroon without spending his personal money. It depends on his personality and he needs to use it.
the fact that it was rumored that he intended to play for France was very negative and i must insisted might have contributed to him loosing the MVP. It takes a week for ballots to shift.
