I think Embiid trying to play for France is one of the reasons why some journalists voted against him for MVP. He is clearly the most valuable player in the league this year, however, he needs to play with one more super maxed player to win the chip.
As far as playing for France, it is a disservice to Embiid and he should tell France he cannot play for them for several reasons:
The game will grow more in Africa with Embiid playing for Cameroon than playing for France and NBA wants the game to grow for clear financial reasons.
Sportingly, Embiid, Siakam and the other Cameroons playing in the G-league and in colleges can create a solid Cameroonian team that can maybe even beat France and other major European players and even the US.
Ipersonally, i have never understood why a Cameroonian who lives in the US will want to play for France because to us France is worse than a third world country. Their scheming policies of piracy is too evident to Africans living in the US. For a person like Embiid who seemingly has the world at his feet, he should on the contrary be pro-Africa and for Cameroon. He should be trying to play for Cameroon to create as many Embiids lurking in the villages and cities of Cameroon to pay back what Mba Amoute did for him and Siakam. He should be carrying out clinics and even sponsor our basketball leagues cos if he can be recruited when he was only playing volleyball how about those young kids who are really into basketball but with no one to promote them .
