Samuel Eto'o is just one goal off Thierry Henry in the chase for the Golden Boot award for Europe's top scorer. Eto'o has two games left to score in, whilst the Frenchman's season is over.

Eto's goals have been vital in assuring the league title for Barca and his all important strike last Saturday night was typical of how decisive his scoring has been, but the Cameroon striker now reckons: "it's time for me to be selfish and look to score goals to win the Golden Boot".

Eto'o has got 24 goals so far in the Spanish League and will be looking to scoring in the two remaining games against Villarreal and Real Sociedad. The Italians Gilardino and Lucarelli , as well as Nuremburg's Slovak Mintal are the only other strikers in with a chance of catching Henry and Eto'o.

Closing in on the Spanish title too

Samuel Eto'o is also closing in on the Spanish league title as leading scorer, three ahead of Oliveira on 21 and Ronaldo and Forlan, who've bagged 20 each, but it's the European title he's geed up for, hoping to follow Ronaldo in 1997 as the last Barca player to win the title(though Stoichkov and Larsson in 1990 and 2001 respectively, won the award before joining Barca). If he wins the award, Eto'o would become the first African born player since Mozambique born Eusabio in 1973, to achieve the honour.

The full list of Europe's top scorers at the moment is:

1. Thierry Henry*, Arsenal FC (ENG): 25 goals, 50 points
2. Samuel Eto'o, FC Barcelona: 24 goals, 48 points
3. Marek Mintál, FC Nürnberg (ALE): 23 goals, 46 points

Merci de patienter...
