Kalla scored off of a header in the 15th minute to open the scoring in his club Bochum’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund. In Germany’s Bundesliga 2, three Cameroonian forwards all started this week: Daniel Wansi for Dynamo Dresden (2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt); Francis Kioyo for Rot Weiss Essen (1-0 loss to Duisburg) and Cyrille Florent Bella with LR Ahlen (0-0 with Aue).

– In Portugal

Albert Meyong Ze played a big role in Vitoria Setubal’s 2-0 win over Sporting Lisbon. Meyong was fouled in the penalty box which was then converted by his teammate Jorginho for Vitoria Setubal’s opening goal then in the 68th minute Meyong scored the 2nd himself. With the win, his newly promoted club is the leader in Portugal after 2 matches. Rudolph Douala was on the bench, but did not play, for Sporting. William Andem kept a clean sheet in goal for Boavista in his club’s 1-0 win over Gil Vicente while Yohanna Buba started at centerback for Estoril in his club’s 4-2 loss to Uniao Leiria.

– In Spain

Samuel Eto’o once again started at left forward for Barcelona, with Henrik Larsson at center forward. Eto’o was involved in several nice buildups for Barcelona but also missed a few clear cut chances at goal.

Nevertheless, he played a big role in Barcelona’s 2-0 home win over Sevilla. Carlos Kameni started in goal for Espanyol as they won 4-1 at Betis. Kameni made several good saves throughout the match but did allow Betis’ only goal to slip through his hands.

– In England

Timothee Atouba started at left midfield for Tottenham in their 0-0 draw with Norwich. Atouba had a goal bound shot well saved by Norwich’s keeper to preserve the tie. Lauren started at right back for Arsenal as they kept their unbeaten streak alive with a 3-0 win over Fulham. Joseph Desire Job came off the bench for Middlesbrough in their 2-1 win over Birmingham City. In the Coca Cola Championship, Patrick Suffo entered as a sub at the 46th minute for Coventry City in his club’s 3-0 loss to Leeds United.

– In France’s Ligue 1

The star performer amongst Cameroon’s players was Jean Makoun who played in midfield for Lille in their 1-0 win over Nice. Herve Tum rebounded from the Indomitable Lions loss to Egypt by playing well in Metz’ 0-0 draw with Bordeaux. Modeste Mbami warmed up for his midweek Champions League play by starting in midfield as PSG continued their struggles by only drawing with newly promoted Istres 1-1.

Alexandre SONG (Bastia)

Jean Joel Perrier Doumbe started at right back for Rennes in their 2-1 loss to Lyon and Alexandre Song entered as a substitute in the 69th minute for Bastia as his club kept up their good start to the new season with a 1-0 win over Auxerre. Toulouse had two Cameroonians in action in their 3-1 win over Ajaccio. Achille Emana started at right midfield and Henri Bedimo Nsame came on as a sub for an injured teammate in central defense in the 35th minute.

– In Belgium

Souleymanou Hamidou was in goal as Denizlispor lost to league leaders Trabzonspor 2-0 and Herve Zengue started in midfield for Ankaragucu in his club’s 1-0 loss to Malatyaspor.

– In Switzerland

former Indomitable Lion midfielder Augustine Simo made his comeback from injury by scoring the second goal as FC Aarau beat St. Gallen 4-1. Promising central defender Armand Deumi led FC Thun’s defense in their 0-0 draw with Neuchatel Xamax. Although his club did not play this weekend, it is worth noting the recent accomplishments of 20 year old forward Achille Njanke with Swiss Challenge League (2nd Division) club FC Meyrin. Since being acquired in mid August, Njanke has scored 4 goals in 3 matches for his new club!

– In Romania

Jeremie Njock returned to Universitatae Craiova. After going on unsuccessful trials in Portugal and France, Njock did return to his club, where he scored 11 goals last season, and came off the bench in the 46th minute as Universitatae Craiova defeated Cluj 3-2.
