With a last training session on in the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali Saturday evening, the Indomitable Lions have fined tuned the strategy they will use to defeat hosts Rwanda. The stadium is the venue of the 2008 African Cup of Nations Group 5 qualifier between Rwanda and Cameroon starting at 13.30 Gmt on Sunday.
For the coaches the training session has enabled them finalised their match plans. But the most difficult task of listing the first eleven still stands for all 20 players in camp are in good form.
“We are hoping to field the best of squad on Sunday. The team must be strong enough to forestall any surprises. We are taking no chances”, head coach Arie Haan declared.
However, two of the players Stephane Mbia and Eric Matoukou are off the list of players for the game, because the rules require than only 18 players are listed by each team on the match form.
The session was composed of some physical and tactical work. Even penalties kicks were taken. And the fans were glad to see Samuel Eto’o play and scorer.
The training session provided the feeling of match day as over 5000 local fans were in attendance, most of them wanting to catch a glimpse of Cameroon star Samuel Eto’o. Indeed it was hard to bring out the Indomitable Lions from the ground.
Meantime, the players have been assured their victory match bonuses will be paid immediately after the match. This has serve as motivation for victory.
The assurance was made in a meeting co-presided at by Martin Tchankou of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education and Harouna Nyako, Executive Committee member of the Cameroon Football Federation, on Friday night.
