Song had a wonderfully-complete match against Bolton on Saturday, completing 58 out of 62 passes, breaking up play in the midfield, and scoring a fantastic goal of strength and skill. But, as simple pass efficiency is a meaningless statistic, I wanted to look at where he was passing the ball to show how aggressive Song was in attack. Out of his 62 passes, roughly 70 percent of them were passed forward into attacking positions. He remained positionally cognizant and kept to his priorities still, spending 63 percent of his time planted firmly in the middle of the pitch, but he also spent 15 percent of his play just outside (and even a little bit inside) the Bolton box, showing a real sense of awareness in joining the attacking charge. Defensively, Song had five interceptions, five tackles, two blocks inside the penalty area, one big clearance in the box, and broke up play five times with run-stopping free kicks well-beyond the Arsenal goal. A great defensive midfielder – think Patty Vieira, Javier Mascherano, or Michael Essien – contributes just as much to the offense as the defense, not just in goals but in attacking support, and that’s something Alex Song started to pick up at the end of last year.
“I feel I’ve improved a lot this season, but I don’t want to settle for that now that I’m a regular in the team,†Song said to the Official Matchday Programme in May. “I know I can do far more, so it’s my job to keep improving now. I should probably score more goals, and try to take more opportunities. People always tell me that I never shoot! This isn’t my main role – I prefer to give a good pass and that’s my first job – but I know there are sometimes chances I can take. If I have some space to attack I’ll do it, but you can’t do something just because you want to – you have to consider the team with every move you make. Every single player has his job and I know what my priorities are. I know that people might like me to push a little bit more forwards at times but I can’t do that all the time and have to select my moments carefully.â€

I know, the Cesc enthusiasts just got up out of their Barcaloungers and screamed obscenities at me, but after watching Song’s impressive display against Bolton on Saturday, both offensively and defensively, I began to see our resident (and only) defensive midfielder in a different light. Perhaps it was just the glint off his fungal hair, but I believe Alex Song has the potential to be, unequivocally, the centerpiece of this Arsenal team.
The defensive midfielder role is an often misunderstood position. I think, because of the name and the overarching “concept†of the holding role, there’s an expectation of the defensive midfielder that often limits him from playing an all-encompassing style. Don’t leave your slot, don’t push too far forward, don’t do this, don’t do that. It’s a limiting role by definition, not necessarily in a bad way because of the importance of positional awareness from that zone, but that doesn’t mean a defensive midfielder needs to live and die by the “don’ts.†There are exceptions to the pre-defined rules, and Alex Song is starting to explore those alternatives with great results.

C'est au moins la 2e fois que je lise tout ceci ds tes posts, et je cite: "Akono a t'il expliké ici comment Womé redevient titus contre le Maroc? Minalmi, nessa c'est SEF ki fait les listes depuis Barcelone il a aussi été témoin . Ocalga beu ."
J'ai pensé en observateur que ce choix était dicté par la nécessité pour les sélectionneurs de l’époque de marquer une rupture ou d'exprimer leur droit à la différence. De l’impératif de rééquilibrage de l'influence pesante du 1984.
2e explication possible, pourrait résulter de la situation psycho du joueur plus motivé à l'idée de tordre le cou à certaines insinuations sur son sujet.
Puis enfin, l'état de forme perso du joueur qui ne manquait pas de compétition et c'est un doux euphémisme.
Raison ou pas raison ?? au moins là je donne une explication.

Pour une fois que je regarde autre chose que le foot !!!!
Je wanda sur les émissions que je vois. Frédérique Bangué (camerounaise, ex coureuse de 100m pour la france) qui a une émission sur télésud, a un de ses chroniqueurs qui est Wat qui est depso, ils font une rubrique sur la gaypride et le gars s'attaquent à tout ceux qui refuse de tolérer les depsos. Et bien sur le Cameroun a été cité comme mauvais élève de la classe du Wat en matière de tolérance.
